Changing Planes by Ursula K. LeGuin-finished 2-5-05
Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Back-started 2-5-05; finished 2-5-05 The Prisoner of Zenda by Anthony Hope-started 2-6-05; finished 2-6-05 Red As Blood by Tanith Lee-started 2-6-05; finished 2-6-05 i highly enjoyed Changing Planes, a cute look at traveling to different planes, (think parallel universes.) every plane has a way to travel, by making themselves uncomfortable as possible. for our plane, we can only travel to different planes by being at a place of stress, misery and discomfort-an airport! LOL plus, it made you think as the narrator traveled to different planes and showed you they lived. from people who fooled around too much with genetic, to migratory bird people, to people who stopped talking as they read adolescence and thoughout there adulthood. Jonathan Livingston Seagull is a quick read. i believe i heard about it from ken. no, he hadn't read it, but had read another book by the same author, The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah. my verdict on this one is out. i'm not saying it's a bad book, i just need to think on it some more. there were some good messages in the book. when i was little, i saw an animated version of The Prisoner of Zenda. i thought it high time to read the book. it was fun, reminding me of when i read The Scarlet Pimpernel in high school, (& i didn't read it for a class, neither!) Red As Blood is just a more grumsome retelling of famous fairy tales. it was better than Volkhavvar and The Birthgrave, but i will be putting this one in the "take to the used book store" pile. |
