Shade's Children by Garth Nix-started 4-7-04

also, graphic novel wise:
#Death: At Death's Door by Jill Thompson-started 4-7-04, finished 4-7-04
#Ninja High School, Vol. 1 by Ben Dunn-started 4-7-04, finished 4-7-04

i didn't enjoy the 3 sisters as much as i thought i would. i peeked ahead in the book ( i have a tendency to do this to books i get bored with,) and discovered that it looks like part of a series. i'd say the jury is still out on this series, but the first buzz back is boredom.

ken recommended Salvatore's Forgotten Realm books that tie into AD&D. While I can't say i like the drow, i am enjoying Drizzt's journey into the light (both literally and figuratively.) i finished the second book, Exile, last night and am poised to start Sojourn.

I just like Garth Nix's work, who cares if it's for Young Adult audiences. he knows how to tell a story and that's all that matters. I've only a little ways into this one, but i know i won't be peaking ahead to see what happens...even though i'm curious as to what happens to Drum, Ella, Gold Eye and Niede.

At Death's Door takes place in Neil Gaiman's World of the Endless from his comic, The Sandman. It's drawn in a wonderfully cute manga style by Thompson and tells us what happens when the party from Hell, literally, winds up on doorstep of Death, a perky goth chick who ushers souls to the afterlife. now i want to find more of Thompson's work.

NHS is one of the cornerstone titles of Antartic Press and now they are collecting previous issues in small trade paperbacks. this is a glimpse back to Dunn's earlier art style. you can really see how he has improved over the years. It's fun with monsters, ninjas, alien and saving the world with steam!
