Girl with a Pearl Earring* by Tracy Chevalier-started 3-7-04
The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin-started 3-7-04

ken and i went flea marketing yesterday.
it was at a mini-storage where people open their storage units and sell you direct from them. one guy had his full of books. my kind of place!
i found some asimov's ken was interested in (i recently got him to read my copy of I, Robot after he saw the dvd of Bicentennial Man,) as well as some R. A. Salvatore Forgetten Realms books that he likes. I found the Ursula K. Le Guin listed above and snagged by own copy of An Acceptable Time by Madeline L'engle so when i reread The Time Quartet, i won't have to borrow becca's copy. and they were only a $1 a piece. 8^)

i had read Girl with a Pearl Earring back in 2001 when i was either in italy or flying back from, i forget which. all i know is that i had to have bought it in the english section of an italian bookstore, because the price is listed as £ 5.99, with no dollar amounts anywhere on the cover. i chose to reread it since i could only remember it was about a maid and Vermeer and that's it. nothing else was in my mind, which meant i needed to refresh my memory and see if i wanted to keep the book.
