binge reading

a real thirst for a good story

The Annotated Alice: The Definitive Edition by Lewis Carroll, Annotations by Martin Gardner-finished 8-18-03

finished Alice and resumed LOTR.
past two nights i've been reading heavily from the big red book.
just this morning before i got to work, Frodo and his friends were leaving Lorien.

i watched the first disc of the Fellowship of the Ring DVD last night. i want to finishing reading that part of LOTR before i watch the second. soon, Ken will have a copy of the Two Towers DVD. i hope to be through that part of the book two before i watch it, but we'll see.
while the movies are good, the book is always better.
such is the law of movie adaptions of books. it doesn't just apply to LOTR here, but all books made into feature films:
never settle for the cliff notes or Hollywood version; read the book. if you haven't, then you're missing a lot of the author's original vision of the story & characters.
