a real thirst for a good story |
2.15.2003
oy. i've been busy and blogger's was acting goofy and not updating for awhile. but i have not stopped reading.
The Onion Girl by Charles de Lint-started 2-12-03; finished 2-14-03. a wonderful read. i first noticed his newest book, Tapping the Dream Tree with cover art by the talented Charles Ness. i decided to pick up one of his earlier books to try instead. it took me awhile to acutally pick it up to read, but i was glad i did.i really fall in love with Joe and his cousins, the "tribe of small, fierce women:" jilly, sophie and wendy and the rest of the cast. the town of newford, in which the novel is set, is a place i want to explore, like all magicall fairy-tale places. i will be picking up his other books, too! regardless of whether they are set in newford or not. the rest i have not kept up with when and i started or finished them. in no particular order, here's what i've read since i last posted: Destiny's Road by Larry Niven a nice read! i enjoyed this one. *The Lions of Al-Rassan by Guy Gavriel Kay The Big Book of Amber by Roger Zelany (this is a collection of all of his "Amber" books.) moves a little fast and confusing at time. i may like it better when i reread it in the future. *Greenwitch (The Dark is Rising Sequence, book 3) by Susan Cooper 8^) gotta get the remaining books now. Abhorsen by Garth Nix (a sequel to Lirael and Sabriel) i have so been waiting for this book! just wonderful! *Neuromancer by William Gibson *Count Zero by William Gibson *The Cat Who Walks Through Walls by Robert Heinlein Lake Wobegon Days by Garrison Keillor right now i'm not reading anything, but when i get some $$, i'll be off to the bookstore to stock up on things to read. |
